Elaine Carlton was an art teacher on Merseyside for over 30 years. She has been involved in textile art groups at Cajobah in Birkenhead, Wirral and with two groups in Cheshire 'Beyond the Surface' and 'TX'. She has exhibited regionally and nationally.Since retiring from teaching she has spent more time in Spain and exhibits regularly with Andalusian International Artists. She has also joined Bolton Progressive Threads and will soon be exhibiting with them.

Current work can be seen at the Casements in Gibraltar, Nixys in Fuengirola and Jinette in La Cala de Mijas. There will be an exhibition of Elaine's work in Wensley Gallery in Ramsbottom, Lancashire starting on the 14th March 2010 until Easter. Her work has been featured on Spanish Television and in Spanish papers.

Her pictures use a variety of techniques that feature both hand and machine embroidery on handmade backgrounds. Most of her inspiration comes from her love of travel. Her Piscean nature means that a great deal of her work involves the sea, beaches and the associated flora and fauna.
